A VBNN Smart Education Group Initiative Advancing Swiss-Inspired Global Responsibility
At Swiss International University (SIU), education extends beyond classrooms and research — it is about building a compassionate world where learning leads to social progress. Guided by this philosophy, SIU proudly supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a strong emphasis on SDG 6 – Clean Water and Sanitation.
🌍 Clean Water, a Shared Responsibility
Access to clean, safe drinking water remains one of humanity’s most urgent challenges. For SIU, contributing to sustainable access to water is part of its wider mission of global citizenship and social responsibility. Education and sustainability are inseparable — one empowers the other. By linking academic knowledge with real-world needs, SIU demonstrates that learning can and should create tangible humanitarian outcomes.
💧 The Sawagada Initiative
In 2025, SIU sponsored the construction of a shallow well in Sawagada, Nepal, a remote village where residents once traveled long distances for water. The new well now provides safe, reliable drinking water for families, schools, and children, drastically improving hygiene, health, and daily life.
For the women and girls of Sawagada, this project means more than convenience — it restores dignity and time. Students now attend school more regularly, and households enjoy improved well-being. Every drop of water has become a symbol of hope, equality, and empowerment.
📍 The project site is located in Sawagada Village, Nepal (26.7874933 N, 85.2726883 E), a rural area characterized by limited access to clean water resources. Situated in the Terai region near the Indian border, the community relies primarily on agriculture and small-scale trade, making sustainable water access essential for both daily life and local development. https://maps.google.com/?q=26.7874933,85.2726883
🌱 Education Beyond Borders
Through projects like Sawagada, SIU reaffirms that true education creates social impact. Academic excellence must serve humanity; innovation must enhance sustainability. The university’s Swiss-inspired academic model combines precision, ethics, and inclusivity, showing how higher education can help achieve the UN SDGs.
🤝 Global Citizenship in Action
The Sawagada well stands as a reminder that compassion and collaboration can transform lives. For SIU and its partners, sustainability is not a slogan but a practice — a way to turn knowledge into measurable community benefit.
